THEY Are Watching
A short documentary in which “conspiracy theorists” and experts explain how and why someone would believe in a conspiracy theory.
My Role: Director, Editor
Post Production and Beyond
After production was finished, we had interviewed 7 people with an average of 45 minutes per interview, which adds up to over 5 hours of footage to sort through to define the story. Additionally, we looked for supporting images that would be able to act as b-roll in order to maintain interest throughout the runtime of the project.
The final documentary was then selected to be shown at the Fayetteville Film Festival in 2025!
The Process
This was a semester-long project, in which I pitched the concept, developed a directorial production book, shot, and edited to create a documentary.
I followed leads on people both local to the Northwest Arkansas area and not who would be able to talk from either side on the topic of conspiracy theories. From there, I scheduled interviews and planned what gear we would need for each one.
