Is This A Joke?

A short narrative film in which a prank goes way too far.

My Roles: Director of Photography, Colorist, Credits

Storyboards & Lighting Plans

For this project, I drew up storyboards and lighting plans that assisted us for each scene, and made us significantly more efficient.

Pre-Production and Production

This was a small student film set with no budget. We were given screenplay, a few weeks to plan, another few weeks to shoot, and another few to edit before it screened.

I was given the opportunity to help create the visual style of the film as the DP alongside the director, Brody Skorup. We established how we wanted to use focal length and lighting to carry a light, comedic tone throughout the film.

Post-Production

Because of my involvment in creating the images, as well as my experience in Davinci Resolve, I was given the opportunity to color grade the film. I provided a few different possible looks for the film, and we went with one that leaned into the oranges and teals of the house.

To grow my skills, I also pitched animations for the credits that would allow for more appreciation to be shown to all that helped make this project become a reality. I was then able to design and animate all of the credits in Adobe AfterEffects.
